Vidya Chethana day 20

Vidya Chethana - Day 20 Lesson Plan

Vidya Chethana Curriculum

Daily Execution Plan • Day 20

☀️
Period 1: Welcome & Nature Walk
Objective: Warm-up, physical coordination, and sensory exploration of nature.
  • Greeting & Conversation: Welcome the children warmly and exchange regular morning greetings.
  • Activity 1 (Kadam Tal): Instruct the children to line up and enter the classroom performing Kadam Tal (marching in place) while counting aloud "Ek-Do-Ek" or "1-2-1-2".
  • Activity 2 (Rain Clap): Have children stand in a circle. Introduce the "rain clap" technique—starting with a soft tap of one finger and building up to a full five-finger storm clap to establish rhythm.
  • Main Activity (Nature Walk): Take the children out to the school garden or a safe nearby park space. Let them look at, touch, and explore different variations of local plants and leaves. Gather back together to let them speak about their discoveries.
🧪
Period 2: My Time (Science & Observation)
Objective: Observe physical properties through water displacement and plant biology.

Activity 1: Water Displacement

  • Fill a transparent glass three-quarters full with clean water.
  • Instruct children to add small stones or crystals one by one into the glass.
  • Have them closely observe and describe how the water line rises up as more weight is added.

Activity 2: Seed Germination Setup

  • Provide individual cups to each child with their own custom name card secured to the front.
  • Ensure a small drainage hole is pierced at the bottom of the cup.
  • Help them fill it halfway with soil, drop in seeds or legumes, and carefully sparkle water.
  • Daily Tracking: Children will monitor their cups daily to spot the very first stages of topsoil changes and root sprouting.
⚖️
Period 3: Basic Numerical Knowledge
Objective: Introduce metrics of weight, numerical tracking, and healthy body awareness.
  • Growth Tracking Process: Have one student step up onto a classroom weighing scale while an assigned peer watches and reads the final weight marker.
  • Record Keeping: The teacher logs all weights systematically in a shared class growth chart to display openly on the bulletin board.
  • Concept Connection: Guide the students to realize that adopting clean, healthy eating habits translates directly into steady, strong bodily growth.
🎨
Period 4: Creative Arts (Thread Pull Art)
Objective: Fine motor skill refinement and color pattern discovery.
  • Setup: Have the children sit comfortably in a wide circle. Distribute three pieces of long string and a folded blank sheet of paper to each child.
  • Execution: Provide paints in Red, Blue, and Yellow. Let them soak their strings in the different dyes and lay them in unique, wavy patterns across one inside flap of their folded paper.
  • The Action: Fold the clean half of the sheet down, press firmly with one hand, and pull the dry loose ends of the strings completely out from the bottom edge.
  • The Reveal: Open the sheets together to examine the vibrant, mirrored artistic patterns left behind.
🔤
Period 5: Language Development
Objective: Letter-object associations, room vocabulary, and sight reading.
  • Classroom Labeling: Work with the children to call out everyday objects in the room. Write these names down on distinct flash strips/plates and tape them onto those exact items.
  • Word Games:
    • Show flashcards to the whole group and practice pronouncing the words loudly together.
    • Call out an item name and prompt a student to walk over and touch that specific labeled object.
    • Ask students to independently name at least four objects they see nearby.
  • Story Identification: Prompt children to try and spot those newly learned vocabulary terms inside their daily storybooks.
Teacher Tip: Integrate clear, hand-drawn pictures alongside text on the flashcards to let emerging readers find and reference words independently.
🪑
Period 6: Outdoor Games (Numbered Chairs)
Objective: Prompt reflex listening and clear number identification.
  • Game Layout: Set up a traditional musical chairs ring. Secure a clear, bold number card onto the seat of every chair.
  • Gameplay: Play music or use a rhythm clap while children walk or slide around the circle. When the sound halts, every child secures a seat.
  • Number Callout: The teacher calls out a specific student's name, and that child must immediately read out and declare the number taped to their chair.
📖
Period 7: Story Time
Objective: Build comprehension, multi-language links, and active listening.
  • Visual Display: Showcase the main storybook illustrations or a large visual script where all children can easily see it.
  • Primary Delivery: Share the main arc of the story expressively using the children's primary language/mother tongue.
  • Bilingual Bridging: Periodically interpret and restate core elements of the dialogue and plot actions using simple English.
  • Interaction Check: Challenge older students to remember and state character names, and ask individual children to step up and point to those characters in the pictures.
👋
Period 8: See You Again
Objective: Daily reflection, home-to-school sharing encouragement, and positive closure.
  • Rapid Recall: Lead a quick, interactive review of all 7 periods completed today (the nature walk, the rising water, thread patterns, and number chairs).
  • Home Link: Inspire the kids to talk through their daily creations and lessons with their parents and siblings when they get home.
  • Joyful Dismissal: Create a short, signature parting ritual (like a special clap or wave) to wrap up the day on a warm note, ensuring they are excited to return tomorrow. Say goodbye!
