Vidya Chethana day 14

Vidya Chethana - Day 14 Lesson Plan

Vidya Chethana

Day 14 Activity Plan

Period & Subject Activity Details & Methodology
Period 1 Greet, Meet & Conversation Activity 1: Continued Concept Game
Materials: Pictures of stars, moon, and sun.
  • Follow the standard conversational instructions. Guide the children to analyze the day/night patterns and complete the weather map activity accurately.

Ability: Improves memory, analytical thinking, self-discipline, and pro-social cooperative behavior.
Activity 2: My Responsibilities (School Parliament / ಶಾಲಾ ಸಂಸತ್ತು)
Materials: Chart paper, sketch pens, responsibility badges with associated images.
  • Engage students in brainstorming a list of daily classroom management tasks.
  • Assign foundational roles such as Library Minister, Food Minister, Sanitation Minister, Games Minister, and Toilet Minister.
  • Create a classroom chart displaying the assigned roles alongside student names. Distribute specific illustrative badges for the ministers to wear.
  • Ensure rotation so every child receives a turn. Observe whether children execute their tasks independently and motivate them to embrace accountability.
Period 2 My Time Children transition independently to their preferred learning corners to engage with resources. Teachers monitor choices and log involvement as a compliance index.
Period 3 Basic Numerical Knowledge
Ability: One-to-one matching, tactile counting, environmental awareness, and conceptualizing color, shape, and size.
Activity: Touch and Count
Materials: 10 concrete objects selected from the immediate surroundings.
Method:
  • Arrange 10 distinct objects in a uniform horizontal row. Instruct children to physically touch and count each object sequentially.
  • Extend the exercise to counting the students present in the classroom. Lead the group to clap systematically with each count, chanting the numerical values aloud to reinforce 1-to-1 correspondence.
Period 4 Creative Arts
Ability: Fine motor skill coordination, manual dexterity, finger strength, and spatial concentration.
Activity: Do It (DIY Picture Puzzle)
Materials: Safety scissors, old newspapers/magazines with colorful illustrations, glue, and cardboard sheets.
Method:
  • Seat the children in a unified circle. Instruct them to identify and cut out a prominent picture (e.g., flower, animal, bird, or house) from an old newspaper.
  • Have them mount the picture firmly onto a backing cardboard using glue.
  • Guide them to carefully cut the mounted image into 6 to 7 individual geometric pieces. Challenge them to reassemble the fragments back into the original complete design to boost creative problem-solving.
Period 5 Language Development
Competency: Self-awareness, cultivation of positive identity concepts, structural listening, and expressive speaking skills.
Activity: My Profile (ನನ್ನ ಪರಿಚಯ)
Materials: Drawing paper, pencils, crayons.
Method:
  • The teacher initiates the session by sharing personal examples of individual likes, dislikes, and daily responsibilities to model the dialogue.
  • Provide a dedicated reflection time for each child to consider their unique preferences. Motivate them to express willingness to manage specific classroom tasks.
  • Distribute sheets and instruct students to illustrate and color their favorite items (such as a preferred dish, toy, animal, bird, family member, or flower) and label it with their name.
Period 6 Outdoor Games
Core Strength: Gross motor skill development, lower body stability, and spatial navigation.
Activity: Climbing Postures
Materials needed: Play ladder, climbing steps, or structural school stairs.
Method: Guide children to ascend and descend the steps in a rhythmic manner, counting each step out loud to seamlessly merge physical activity with mathematical recall.
Period 7 Story Time Activity: Shared Interactive Storytelling
Method:
  • Advance the interactive narrative framework. The teacher delivers the core story arc and pauses strategically to invite student hypotheses to drive the plot forward.
  • Use guiding prompts in Kannada such as: "ಮುಂದೆ ಏನಾಯ್ತು?" (What happened next?) or "ಆ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಂತು?" (Where did that book come from?) to expand creative prediction.
  • Conclude with direct comprehension questions to reinforce active auditory focus alongside pure entertainment.
Period 8 See You Again
  • Synthesize & Recall: Review all learning steps and participatory games conducted during Day 14.
  • Home Connection: Prompt children to describe their individual school parliament responsibilities and tasks to parents and family members.
  • Joyful Dismissal: Organize a brief structural positive routine to ensure a happy transition home, and distribute materials for a simple take-home DIY activity.
